Saudi Minister of  Tourism Opens ITB Berlin Pavilion

The Saudi Arabia Minister of Tourism, Ahmed bin Aqeel Al-Khateeb, led the Kingdom’s delegation to the ITB Berlin 2024 international travel trade show and inaugurated the Saudi pavilion.

Mr. Al-Khateeb attended the opening ceremony of ITB Berlin, the world’s largest tourism trade fair, which attracts thousands of travel and tourism agencies from all over the world. The minister also inaugurated the Saudi pavilion at the fair and met with officials from large international companies and leaders from the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).

The Ministry of Tourism and a high-profile Saudi delegation from the tourism sector participated in the Kingdom’s pavilion at the exhibition, through which guests were introduced to the great potential that the Kingdom possesses in the field of tourism in terms of geographic and environmental diversity, archaeological sites, and modern tourist attractions.

Representing the Saudi Tourism Authority’s most prominent partners from the public and private sector, more than 45 agencies participated in the Saudi exhibition along with tour operators, hotels, tourism and travel companies, and airlines.

The Saudi pavilion showcased the successes achieved by the Kingdom in the field of tourism, most notably the arrival of more than 100 million tourists 2023 and topping the United Nations tourism list of the major countries in terms of growth in the number of tourists coming from abroad and leading the G20 member states in terms of the number of tourists from abroad.

The Jeddah Historical Program is participating in ITB Berlin with the aim of highlighting efforts to revitalize the historic Jeddah area, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

At the exhibition, the program will place emphasis on the 34 heritage hotels opened within the historic Jeddah area, which offer visitors “unique and authentic experiences” that seamlessly blend tradition, history, and modern amenities, according to the program.

Jeddah Historical Program is participating in ITB Berlin as part of its efforts to establish a strong presence in major international tourism and travel events, to promote the historical significance of the area, and highlight Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage.

By presenting the exceptional experiences it offers, the program aims to position Jeddah as “a leading destination on the cultural tourism map” and capture the attention of visitors from around the world.
